On the Archives Day, January 21, 2020, the Archives of Yugoslavia marked 70 years of its founding. On that occasion, a reprint edition of the publication on the history of the building in which the Archives has been housed since 1969 was printed, as well as the second supplemented edition of the monograph on 70 years of the Archives of Yugoslavia. A canvas was placed on the central part of the facade with the Archives' characteristic markings, then a smaller exhibition in the courtyard dedicated to the state symbols of Yugoslavia and a retrospective of selected exhibitions prepared and displayed by the Archives in the last 10 years.
Director of the Archives, Dr. Milan Terzić, first addressed the audience, presenting information on the founding of the State Archives of the FPRY in 1950, change of the name to the Archives of Yugoslavia, proclamation of the building in which it is located as a cultural monument in 2007, wealth of 40 km of the archive contents that the Archives gained during the period of the Yugoslav state from its foundation in 1918 until 2006, with 874 funds and 83 collections; these documents speak of a state that no longer exists, and which was marked primarily by two personalities – King Aleksandar Karađorđević and Josip Broz Tito, and without which we cannot learn the history of the 20th century.
Speaking about the number of domestic and foreign researchers who annually pass through the reading room of the Archives and the library, which has 25 thousand titles, the large number of theses, monographs and books created on the basis of archival material of the Archives of Yugoslavia, he thanked the Ministry of Culture and Information for the care it showed towards these archives.
Taking the floor at this ceremony, Dejan Masliković, Assistant Minister of Culture and Information in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, said that the Archives is a very important institution, which represents the memory of a period in the overall history of Serbia when we shared our statehood with other nations, stating that the Archives of Yugoslavia is one of the most important archives we have and that its material is a link on the basis of which we can build successful relations in the region and carry out the process of succession. The exhibition will be available to visitors until the end of February 2020, every working day from 9 am to 4 pm.
On 22nd January 2010, the Archives of Yugoslavia celebrated its 60th Anniversary in the presence of a large number of invited guests including Nebojša Bradić, Minister for Culture of the Republic of Serbia, Prince Aleksandar Karađorđević and Princess Catherine, ambassadors of the Russian Federation, Egypt, Mexico and Algeria, diplomatic representatives of the Republic of Korea, China, USA, Norway, Bulgaria and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also present were representatives of the Federal Archival Agency of the Russian Federation, Institute for Slavistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the State Archives of the Russian Federation, Director and Deputy Director of the Archives of the Republic of Srpska, archivists from the Republic of Serbia and afficionados of historical science. The opening address was given by Miladin Milošević, Acting Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia.
The guests were greeted by the representatives of Russian Archives including Dr Andrei Artizov, Manager of the Federal Archival Agency of the Russian Federation, Dr Konstantin Nikiforov, Director of the Institute for Slavistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Dr Sergei Mironenko, Director of the State Archives of the Russian Federation. Professor Ljubodrag Dimić introduced the fourth volume of the edition "Sources for the History of International Relations 1930 – 1940" entitled "Reports of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia for Year 1933" edited by Nada Petrović and Jelena Đurišić.
In his address, the Minister for Culture of the Republic of Serbia, Nebojša Bradić, stressed that "While today we may praise or criticise Yugoslavia, it is important that we do so from the historical perspective - objectively and dispassionately and using historical documents. This has been made possible by institutions such as the Archives of Yugoslavia." Minister Bradić opened the exhibition "Yugoslav Governments 1918 – 2006" created by Dr Gojko Malović and Dušan Jončić. To mark the Jubilee, the Archives of Yugoslavia published a special brochure, a catalogue of publications, an issue of the journal Archives and a journal bibliography.
The guests from the Archives of Yugoslavia as well as the representatives of the Russian archives had an audience with Minister Bradić.
Early 2005 saw the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the State Archives of the FNRY, i.e. the Archives of Yugoslavia or Archives of Serbia and Montenegro. On this occasion Serbia and Montenegro President Svetozar Marović decorated the Archives with the Order of Labour "for their exceptional contribution in the processing, organisation and protection of archival holdings, and special achievements in the development and promotion of archival work and preservation of cultural goods", as it was said in the Charter on Decoration, signed on September 28, 2005.
The Order was conferred on the Archives of Serbia and Montenegro on October 19, 2005, when the anniversary was marked. The first book of the Sources for International Relations 1930-1940, Izveštaji Ministarstva inostranih poslova Kraljevine Jugoslavije 1930, was presented on the occasion of the anniversary. The book was prepared by Archives of Serbia and Montenegro historians Nada Petrović and Saša Ilić. Momčilo Pavlović, Ph.D and Dr Milan Ristović Ph.D. professor, spoke about the book. An exhibition of archival documents on the Diplomacy of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia 1918-1941 was opened on the same date.

January 20 | The celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Yugoslav Archives was attended by numerous representatives of the international archival community, including ICA secretary general Joan Van Albada and ICA/EUR president Erik Norberg, who held lectures for Yugoslav archives workers. Mr Joan Van Albada spoke about the code of archivists and professionalism in the archival science and Mr Norberg addressed the topic of Archives, history and democracy. |
January 21 | Agreements were signed on extending the validity of a
protocol on cooperation between the State Archive Service of the Russian
Federation and the Yugoslav Archives for the period between 2000 and 2004
and between the National Archives of Romania and the Yugoslav Archives for
the period between 2000 and 2002. At the Central Club of the Yugoslav Army a celebration was held, an exhibition of original documents entitled "Half a Century of the Yugoslav Archives" was opened and the latest publications of the Archives were presented: the monograph "Archives of Yugoslavia between 1950 and 2000" and the Guide through the Funds of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Talks were held at the Serbian Archives about the position of archives in our country and especially about the position of archives in Kosovo. |

The 50th anniversary of the Yugoslav Archives prompted Jugomarka to issue the stamp with the nominal value of 10 dinars and the first day cover (FDC).
Archives of Yugoslavia was awarded "Zlatni Beocug" for 2015, the highest annual recognition of the Cultural and Educational Association of Belgrade, for permanent contribution to culture of Belgrade. The ceremony was held on 14 April 2016 at the National Theatre. The award was received by Miladin Milošević, Acting Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia.
National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia conferred the highest award upon historian, Ljubodrag Dimić, PhD, Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, Aleksandar Raković, PhD, scientific associate in the Institute for the Recent History of Serbia and Miladin Milošević, Acting Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia "for extraordinary devotion to preservation, protection and research and publication of diplomatic archival documentation" for Collected Papers "YUGOSLAVIA – INDONESIA 1945-1967
"The Golden Archives" from the foundation of Aleksandar Arnautović is granted to deserving individuals and archival institutions. Commission for granting awards of the Archives of Serbia awarded Mitar Todorović, Archival Councillor in the Archives of Yugoslavia, "the Golden Archives" for contribution to the archival profession for 2014. Our colleague was awarded sculpture "Miniature of the Archives of Serbia", work of the sculptor Zoran Ivanović with recognition on December 15, 2014.
On 13 December 2013, at the celebration of the Archives Day in Serbia and 115th anniversary of founding of the Archives of Serbia, the annual award of the "Foundation of Đurđ, Danica and Jovanka Jelenić" as well as two awards of equal standing of Aleksandar Arnautović’s Foundation, "Golden Archives", intended to be given to an “excelling and exceptionally worthy prominent archivist”, were presented to Miladin Milošević, Acting Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia, and Nada Petrović, head of the Informing, Publishing and International Cooperation Department.
In the presence of a large number of high-ranking officials, the Archives of the Republic of Srpska awarded the Certificate of Appreciation to the Archives of Yugoslavia . The Certificate of Appreciation was received by Miladin Milošević, Acting Director General of the Archives of Yugoslavia.
On the occasion of the centenary of establishment of Second infantry regiment of First Conscripted "Knjaz Mihailo" (Prince Mihailo) – nicknamed the Iron Regiment, one of the most elite military units in the History of Serbia, The Municipality Prokuplje awarded a Plaquette to the Archives of Yugoslavia in appreciation of their preservation of sources on the Iron Regiment. The Plaquettewas handed over to Miladin Milošević, Acting Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia, in the National Museum Toplice in Prokuplje, on the day of central celebration, 8 October 2012.
On the occasion of celebrating the day of the Faculty of Philology, the Archives of Yugoslavia was awarded the Charter of Merit for exceptional contribution and cooperation in preserving and fostering Serbian cultural heritage. The Charter was handed over to Miladin Milošević, Acting Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia, on 5 October 2012.
