Exhibition "Under the Tricolor. Cult of the Flag in Yugoslavia 1918–1991" in the Archives of Yugoslavia

With the exhibition "Under the Tricolor. The Cult of the Flag in Yugoslavia 1918–1991", the Archives of Yugoslavia is joining the celebration of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag.

Through photographs from the holdings and collections of the Archives of Yugoslavia, the exhibition display shows the manner of use of the state, republican and national flags (with a special emphasis on the Serbian tricolor) in Yugoslavia in the period from 1918 to 1991. On this occasion, a part of the archival material concerning this topic is presented, which the Archives of Yugoslavia preserves in its 886 holdings and collections and nearly 40 km of archival material, among which are numerous other materials concerning the cult of the flag, i.e. the use and displaying of state, republican and other flags, pointed out in her welcoming speech the acting director Dr. Tatjana Kikić.

Along with the address of the acting director Dr. Tatjana Kikić and one of the authors of the exhibition Marko Davidović, the fitting opening program of the exhibition was also completed by Miodrag Simović, who inspiredly spoke the verses of Jelena Kovačević's poem "Towards the Homeland", as well as the recitation by Svetlana Stefanović, an archivist of the Archives of Yugoslavia.

The exhibition can be viewed in the lobby of the Archives of Yugoslavia every workday from September 15 to 30, in the period from 9 AM to 3 PM. Admission is free.
