On the occasion of the observance of St. Sava’s Day (27 January), the Archives of Yugoslavia prepared an exhibition of archival documents entitled “St. Sava Celebrations: Observance of St. Sava’s Day in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, 1918–1945.”
The exhibition is installed in the central hall of the Archives of Yugoslavia.
The author of the exhibition is senior archivist and Head of the Department for Publishing and Inter-Archival Cooperation, Dragan Teodosić, with the collaboration of Đurđija Borovnjak, Marko Davidović, Aljoša Popović, and Marko Radovanović. The exhibition design was created by Zvonko Kuprešanin, technical editor of the Archives of Yugoslavia. The exhibition consists of an introductory poster, ten main exhibition panels, and an imprint.
Through ten central panels, the exhibition presents the practice of observing St. Sava’s Day in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia from 1918 to 1945, as well as the importance attributed to this holiday by state authorities, institutions, organizations, associations, and individuals. The exhibition is divided into several main thematic sections: regulations; St. Sava celebrations in primary and secondary schools; celebrations organized by the Serbian Orthodox Church; associations and societies; St. Sava celebrations and St. Sava–themed events at universities; and St. Sava celebrations abroad.
The exhibition was ceremonially opened by the Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia, Dr. Milan Terzić, in the presence of the Archives’ staff. It is open to the public until 12 February 2026. Subsequently, the exhibition will be permanently available to a wider audience in electronic format on the website of the Archives of Yugoslavia.
