The handover of archival material between the Museum of Yugoslav History and the Archives of Yugoslavia was carried out in May 2009, based on the authority of the relevant institutions.
The archival material that was handed over consisted of:
The fonds of the Office of the Marshall of Yugoslavia (1943–1953 period) – 186 arch. boxes.
The fonds of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic (1953–1980 period) – 2432 arch. boxes.
The personal fonds of Josip Broz Tito – 16 arch. boxes.

The most valuable documents of these fonds pertain to the social and political activities of Josip Broz Tito in the country, as well as his activities referring to the settlement of topical international relations issues and Yugoslavia’s foreign policy.

The political activities of Josip Broz Tito in the country are best reflected in documents referring to his journeys and visits to work organizations, social and political communities and regions; documents referring to Josip Broz Tito’s receptions of delegates and representatives of social, political, economic, cultural, educational and scientific circles; documents referring to his speeches made at public gatherings, congresses and meetings of social, political and other organizations and bodies of social and political communities.

The documents on international and foreign policy activities of Josip Broz Tito include messages and letters he exchanged with heads of states and governments, dignitaries and public figures concerning topical international relations and bilateral cooperation issues. There are also documents on his visits abroad, as well as those documenting visits from abroad of  heads of states and governments, delegations and dignitaries to Yugoslavia; documents referring to Josip Broz Tito’s speeches and activities within international and intergovernmental organizations, as well as documents about topical issues of the international workers’ movement and the policy of non-alignment.
A significant part of this voluminous documentation consists of manuscripts of Josip Broz Tito (theses and concepts), originals and copies, stenography notes and transcripts of tape recordings of his communication – speeches, conversations, reports, exposés, statements, interviews and articles, as well as concepts, both originals and copies, from his voluminous political, governmental and intergovernmental  correspondence.

The personal fonds of Josip Broz Tito are of meager volume. The fonds contain his manuscripts (various notes, glossaries, agendas, etc.), letters and greeting cards he exchanged with friends and close associates, personal documents (birth certificates, passports, identity cards, permits, membership cards, etc.), documentation about his family and family correspondence, documentation referring to sports and other activities, as well as to his personal finances.
