The Archives of Yugoslavia was one of the most popular destinations in the Museum Night on 14-15 May 2011. More than 1,400 visitors saw the exhibition Portraits of Queen Maria and Princess Olga Karađorđević. A lot of visitors gathered at the gates of the Archives even before the time set for opening.
The exhibition was dedicated to European princesses coming to the Court in Belgrade from well known European dynasties – Maria, Queen Consort of King Alekandar I Karađorđević, founder of the Kingdom of SCS/Yugoslavia,  and Olga Karađorđević, Princess, wife of Prince Pavle Karađorđević. Interesting details from the lives of beautiful, elegant, sophisticated rulers, wives, mothers and women who devoted part of their life to humanitarian work as well were shown at the exhibition. 
Photographs on display were the ones from the AJ-74 Fonds (Kingdom of Yugoslavia Court). The visitors could take a “glimpse” of the Royal Court and White Court (Beli Dvor), as well as of the childhood and youth of these two remarkable women. Weddings, holidays in Slovenia, letters, calendars, banknotes and drawings made up this exhibition. Story of Queen Maria’s and Princess Olga’s tiaras, a keepsake journal kept by Princess Olga after the birth of her son Aleksandar, original sketches for jewellery from Cartier workshop, etc. A special highlight of the exhibition were various bills for shoe repairs, corset mending, hairdressing, food, and clothes bought at exclusive shops in Paris.  
During Museum Night the visitors also saw the original filmed records of the wedding of King Aleksandar I Karađorđević and Queen Maria in 1922, All-Slav Ball in 1933 and celebration of Mother’s Day at the Court in 1936. The filmed records were obtained from the Yugoslav Film Archives (Arhiva jugoslovenske kinoteke).
The exhibition is open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until 27 May 2011.

NIGHT OF MUSEUMS 2011 IN ARCHIVES OF YUGOSLAVIA

The Archives of Yugoslavia exhibition Portraits of Queen Maria and Princess Olga Karađorđević, by the authors Zorica Netaj and Dragoš Petrović MSc, was opened on 15 March 2012 in the Gallery of the Historical Archives of Užice. The exhibition and its authors were presented by Aleksandar Savić MSc from the Historical Archives of Užice. Dragoš Petrović MSc, one of the authors of the exhibition, spoke about the research efforts for the exhibition. The gathering was also addressed by Lilijana Ratković-Trifunović, Assistant Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia.
The opening of this exhibition was covered by several film and media teams, and several dozen citizens were also present, among them also a number of representatives of women’s humanitarian associations. The exhibition will be open until 5 April 2012.

The exhibition of the Archives of Yugoslavia Portraits of Queen Maria and Princess Olga Karađorđević was opened in the Hall of the Historical Archives in Zrenjanin. The exhibition was first presented to the public during the Museum Night, in May 2011, in the Archives of Yugoslavia.
Nada Boroš, Director of the Historical Archives in Zrenjanin, and Nada Petrović, head of informing department in the Archives of Yugoslavia, talked about the long standing cooperation between the Archives of Yugoslavia and the Historical Archives in Zrenjanin. The exhibition was presented by Dragoš Petrović MSc, a co-author, who highlighted that through archival documents two European and Yugoslav princesses were shown as wives, mothers and women involved in humanitarian work.
The exhibition was opened by Tanja Dulović, Head of Central Banat District. The exhibition will remain open until the end of January 2012.
